

The Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archeologists was established in 1998 as a specialized scientific organization; emanating from the Association of Arab Universities. It is considered as the first entity to bring together the Arab Archeologists from the ocean to the gulf under one scientific and professional umbrella. The Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archeologists works in all fields of archaeology, museum, excavations, underwater antiquities, architectural restoration along with organizing lots of specialized workshops and scientific conferences in all area of archeological works through a group of regional centers.

The Arab Council aims to support the scientific research in the field of antiquities and heritage.
Moreover, the Arab Council aims to enhance cooperation between the academic and research institutions and the Arab Council aims to specialized organizations concerned in the heritage protections.
2-Helding scientific conferences, specialized seminars and training workshops .
3-Publishing peer-reviewed scientific journals Such as Journal of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists (https://jguaa2.journals.ekb.eg/), Maǧallaẗ Al-Itiḥād Al-ʿām Lil Aṯārīyin Al-ʿarab (https://jguaa.journals.ekb.eg/) and Ḥawliyyaẗ Al-Itiḥād Al-ʿām Lil Aṯārīyin Al-ʿarab - Dirāsāt fi Aṯār Al-Waṭan Al-ʿarabī (https://cguaa.journals.ekb.eg/).
4-Providing the scientific awards and support to the Arab researches.
5-Developing databases of Arab competencies and archaeological.
The Arab Council membership includes an elite group of archaeologists, heritage scholars specialists from the various Arab Universities and organizations furthermore, the Arab Council works in coordination with regional and international organizations concerned in heritage. Like ISESCO, ALESCO and UNESCO.
The Arab Council works to improve the scientific publishing in the field of antiquities by issuing three major publications:-
1- The Journal of the General Union of Arab Archeologists (JGUAA2) published in English, French, German, Italian, and Arabic papers. It’s a semi-annual peer-reviewed academic journal covered by Scopus (2019 to present).

3. Ḥawliyyaẗ Al-Itiḥād Al-ʿām Lil Aṯārīyin Al-ʿarab - Dirāsāt fi Aṯār Al-Waṭan Al-ʿarabī is the biggest Encyclopedia of Antiquities in the Arab World; including more than five thousand archeological studies in different archeological field in addition to the cultural heritage in the Arab World; published in 33 volumes, published in Arabic and English

In the conferences and seminars of the Arab Council, important archeological issues were discussed in the Arab World level like:-
1.Risks of the destruction of heritage in Gaza, Sudan and Lebanon.
2.Reality of antiquities in the Arab World in light of the imminent dangers and the solutions.
3.Monitoring the risks of armed attacks in the archeological sites in the Arab World specially in Palestine.
4.Dangers in the archeological sites due to armed conflicts and extremism claims.
1.Digitalization and its applications in documenting and preserving the heritage in the Arab World.
2.Impact of climate changes on the archeological sites and buildings.
3.Civilization and the Civilizology rights to its recovery.
The Arab Council of the General Union of Arab Archaeologists offers specialized scientific training courses for young researchers in archaeology to enhance their academic and professional qualifications, for example:


It is one of the scientific and cultural initiatives of the Arab Council of the General Union for Arab Archeologists.
-It aims to highlight the cultural heritage of the Arab Nation in a comprehensive panoramic image that combines scientific visual presentation.
-The Heritage Panorama is a cultural window that highlights the role of the Arab Council of the General Union for Arab Archeologists in preserving the cultural identity and in supporting and protecting the Arab Heritage issues for the future generations.


Organize specialized training courses for the rehabilitation of the archeologists, technicians, engineers and restorers in the fields of archeology and heritage through practical and scientific activities.
-Prepare integrated scientific studies and preservation’s strategies about the current status of the monuments and heritage in the Arab region to confront risks and armed conflicts.
